- This sewing class is designed to give you the tools and confidence to source, cut and sew stretchy fabrics into clothes you will love to make and wear again and again.
- We’ll cover everything you need to know about sewing knits on your domestic machine or overlocker – makers choice.
- You’ll work on projects that suit your style and experience — from cosy basics to soft statement pieces. Leave with confidence, and a comfy pile of ready-to-wear garments.
- Whether you’re a complete stretch virgin or would like to push your practice with guidance, you will walk away from this stretch sewing class with garments you’ll love and a newfound determination to sew all things stretch.

What You’ll Learn in Stretch Wardrobe Weekend
- how to find the right stretch fabrics for your projects and where to buy them
- how to use your domestic sewing machine for sewing all kind of stretch garment
- how to read a pattern and select the perfect size
- how to handle stretch fabric and cut your garment
- choosing and installing speciality needles, and pins and using a walking foot on your sewing machine
- how to use a range of suitable stitches and the best application for them
- how to sew stretch-related elements such as neckbands, cuffs, and twin hemming
- how to hem knits using a twin needle

Notes for patterns
More patterns will be suggested as part of your prep pack, and will account for different levels of sewist.
There will be time for sewing more than one garment over the weekend, so you may want to sew a single, bigger garment or multiple smaller ones.
You are welcome to make your own pattern selection. Just pop me a message to make sure it’s suitable for the class.
On the first day, you will learn some stretch related sewing skills to better handle, cut and sew with stretch fabrics on your sewing machine. You will learn how to use a walking foot, adjust your tools for sewing with knits and familiarise yourself with the different stitch types available on your sewing machine. Then we will delve straight into your stretch sewing project, learning the skills you need to master as we go.
The second day is spent sewing as many gorgeous stretch garments as you can and absorbing all the sewing techniques that will make you a stretch witch or wizard!
Over the course of the weekend, we will take a deep dive into fabric knowledge so you walk out knowing your knits inside out.
Spaces are limited to 7 students per class to provide the ultimate learning experience.

Lunch is not included, please bring a packed lunch with you on both days.
Sewing patterns and fabric are not included. You will receive all the guidance you need to help you choose though.
Speciality knit needles, pins and machine feet are also not included. You will receive more information about exactly what is needed prior to the class beginning.
