  • You’ve mastered your sewing machine, you’ve been making your own clothes and using a zig zag stitch or even using French Seams. You feel ready if not a little intimidated to take on the overlocker… but where to start?

  • Conquer the Overlocker is our sewing class which focuses on how to start and become a proficient overlocker user.

  • You will learn all of the basics and common issues that arise, so you can leave feeling confident that you are capable of this next big step in your sewing journey.

  • This class is ideal for intermediate sewers who are ready to take the next step in their sewing journey. If you’re not sure if that’s you, contact me and we can discuss whether it’s right for you or not!

How Payment Plans Work

I use a third party website, GoCardless, to manage payment plans for my sewing classes.


Simply fill in your details as requested, state how many payments you’d like your payment plan to be (there is a maximum of 2 for this sewing class) when prompted and pay your deposit. Your payment plan will be manually set up using the email address you provide and split into even payments.
 
Registering for a payment plan will automatically enrol you on the sewing class, and so the same cancellation policy applies.

What You’ll Learn in Conquer the Overlocker

  • how to thread an overlocker

  • Which threads and when to use them

  • how to use tension, stitch length and blade position and differential feed to create different seams

  • how to work out seam allowance 

  • troubleshooting common issues

  • how to use the overlocker to sew a stretch garment

The suggested patterns for this class are;

Already have a simple pattern you think would be suitable for this? No problem, you are also welcome to send this to me so I can check the suitability – as long as you have something to work with, I don’t mind!

 

Before the class

You will need to purchase your course pattern, fabric and trims, and cut the garment ready for the day. As always I’m on hand for any additional support so if the thought of doing this on your own is putting you off do let me know and we can arrange an alternative option.​

On the day

In the morning, you will learn how to thread the overlocker and adjust settings for different seam types.

In the afternoon you will practice using the overlocker to construct a simple garment, learning skills that range from sewing seams to hemming in the round. 

Spaces are limited to 7 participants per class to provide the ultimate learning experience
