You’ve mastered your sewing machine, you’ve been making your own clothes and using a zig zag stitch or even using French Seams. You feel ready if not a little intimidated to take on the overlocker… but where to start?

Conquer the Overlocker is our sewing class which focuses on how to start and become a proficient overlocker user.

You will learn all of the basics and common issues that arise, so you can leave feeling confident that you are capable of this next big step in your sewing journey.

This class is ideal for intermediate sewers who are ready to take the next step in their sewing journey. If you’re not sure if that’s you, contact me and we can discuss whether it’s right for you or not!

Already have a simple pattern you think would be suitable for this? No problem, you are also welcome to send this to me so I can check the suitability – as long as you have something to work with, I don’t mind!
Before the class
You will need to purchase the pattern you wish to make, fabric and trims, and cut the garment ready for the day. As always I’m on hand for any additional support so if the thought of doing this on your own is putting you off do let me know and we can arrange an alternative option.
On the day
In the morning, you will learn how to thread the overlocker and adjust settings for different seam types.
In the afternoon you will practice using the overlocker to construct a simple garment, learning skills that range from sewing seams to hemming in the round.
Spaces are limited to 6 participants per class to provide the ultimate learning experience

What’s included
Teas and coffee on tap (with dairy and oat milks provided), fresh fruit and biscuits.
Access to my studio haberdashery.
What’s not included
Lunch is not included, please bring a packed lunch.
You’ll need access to your own overlocker for this sewing class, complete with foot control and manual if you have it. The studio doesn’t provide overlockers to learn on for this class.
Please come prepared with your own fabric that is pre-cut in your chosen pattern from the suggested list.
