Hi, I’m Camille Jacquemart!
I’m a sewing teacher based in Newcastle Emlyn, West Wales.
Since starting Thimble Studios over 10 years ago, I’ve helped 100s of women (and some men!) conquer their sewing machine and step into the journey of making their own clothes.
What brought me to West Wales?
After graduating in Fashion Design in France, I spent my formative years training at Threesafour, Alexander McQueen and Fred Butler.
However, as my curiosity and knowledge in the process behind our clothing production grew, my interest in the world of fast fashion diminished.
In my mid-20s, while yearning for a change and with an interest in sustainable fashion, I took a U-turn and headed to the fabric source; a wool farm in Carmarthenshire, Wales where I spent a year sheparding and learning the process of how fleece becomes cloth.
I was already a bit of a self-confessed fabric nerd, and my love only grew after this experience!
Shortly after that, Thimble Studios was born due to a burning desire to teach others how to sew. I then spent 7+ years traveling around Carmarthenshire, my car packed to the brim with sewing equipment, teaching people how to sew.
2020 saw Thimble Studios get a permanent home in a former Vestry in Newcastle Emlyn, where I continue to teach sewing at both my in-person sewing classes and online in my sewing membership (est. 2020).
